CHENEY - Dayton sophomore Kaitlyn Andrews was the only local girl competing at the state track meet in Cheney last week. Andrews placed fifth in the javelin, with a throw of 118 feet, 5 inches. Her longest throw of the season was 122 feet 9 inches, in March. Andrews also competed in the 100 meter dash on Saturday. She placed ninth in the preliminary heat, missing the finals by one place. DAYTON – Pam Lindsley, of Spokane, will be Dayton Elementary School’s new principal next year, according to Dayton Superintendent Doug Johnson. She replaces Katie Leid, who resigned this year. Lindsley has been a kindergarten and fifth-grade teacher at Spokane’s Cooper Elementary School for 16 years. She recently completed training to become an administrator. The WP softball team earned a trip to the four-team district tournament Saturday, after splitting a doubleheader with Asotin. In the first game, WP took a 4-2 lead early and held on for a 7-5 win.
