The application will be included in the final list of proposed changes to the county’s development regulations, to be up for approval later this year. Last month, the Walla Walla County Planning Commission voted 3-2 to recommend denial of the Doziers’ requested zoning change. Two of the commi...

    Dena Martin, The Times|Mar 22, 2018

WAITSBURG – At their regular March meeting, the Waitsburg School Board opted to table discussions about the possible sale of several school properties, including the District House located next to Preston Hall. Discussions were set aside due to a strong initial negative response from some community members. Late last year, the District began evaluating the possible sale of two parcels of land on Coppei Avenue, along with the District House. In January, the board voted to have the properties appraised and requested that Maintenance Supervisor Co...

  • It's Time for Grandstand Issue to be Decided

    Mar 22, 2018

Dear Editor, Several groups have offered input concerning the fairgrounds. The latest, the Grandstand Advisory Committee, was created by council. It was created to exist for a limited time which, I believe, has expired. Due to busy lives this committee met no more than a half-dozen times and never had all members present. There were varying opinions by Committee members at the last meeting regarding public interest. That led to the request for an advisory vote on the city election ballot. Currently the grandstands are a potential liability. Som...

  • Double-Streusel Coffee Cake

    Teeny McMunn, The Times|Mar 22, 2018

After last week's long recipe, this will be short, comparatively. It is the old fashioned Bisquick coffee cake recipe that used to be on the box and no longer is. I was looking for something quick and easy for coffee hour that I didn't have to go to the store for. We had a large box of Bisquick we had not used for awhile, so went with that. Speaking of "awhile", there are two types of people: those who believe that a pull date or expiration date is there for a reason (which is me) and those who...
