WAITSBURG – This year’s Pioneer Fall Festival on Sunday is shaping up nicely, with plenty of fun in store for all who attend. Two new park-style benches were recently installed at the Smith Hollow Schoolhouse grounds in Dayton. The benches are courtesy of the Anderson family of Dayton, friends & supporters for the late Rob Anderson, and Columbia REA. They compliment the recent bike rack/hitching post memorial for Rob Anderson. The green metal benches match existing public seating on Dayton's Main Street. WAITSBURG – A free showing of the movie Uncommon Friends: Life with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Alexis Carrel, and Charles Lindbergh will be held at 3 p.m. on Sun., Sept. 20 at the Plaza Theater on Waitsburg’s Main Street. Waitsburg’s annual Pioneer Fall Festival will feature a great variety of activities for kids of all ages on Sunday. Pioneers of the Year will be honored and pies will be baked and auctioned off. James “Jim” Ellis Hansen passed away on Sept. 9, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. He was born the third of six children in Waitsburg on May 19, 1921, to Albert and Margaret Leid Hansen, longtime pioneers of the Valley. Jim was a member of the undefeated 1938 and 1939 Waitsburg High School football teams and graduated from high school in 1939.
