    MABTON – The DW football team traveled to Mabton for a league game Friday night but a failure to schedule referees, which is the responsibility of the home team, resulted in the game being cancelled. Both teams arrived ready to play and waited for approximately an hour before heading home, according to WHS school officials. The schools are working to coordinate a makeup game date.     DAYTON – The Friends of the Dayton Memorial Library will hold their fall book sale on Fri., Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Sun., Oct. 15 from 1-4 p.m. Thousands of books will be available for sale at 250 East Main (the former Mead Works storefront), between Blue Mountain Realty and Rey’s Roast.   • Former Prescott Superintendent Passes Away

    CLE ELUM, Wash. – Former Prescott school district superintendents, Lloyd Olson, passed away on Sept. 24 at his home in Cle Elum, at age 84, of natural causes. Olson was credited with having a positive impact on the Chumicum School District where he was superintendent from 1976 to 1988, and oversaw the building of the town’s new high school in 1979. Prior to taking his position in Chumacum, Olson was district superintendent in Prescott from 1970 to 1976. Four of Olson’s seven children went on to become educators....
