DAYTON—Dayton School Superintendent Doug Johnson said he is delighted to share the results of recent water samplings in the school buildings. WAITSBURG – The Waitsburg Leos and Lions Clubs joined together to collect 868 pounds of food for the Waitsburg Resource Center last week. The Resource Center donates approximately 7,000 lbs. of food to families in need each year. The food drive was organized as a competition between high school classes, with the seniors taking home the win by collecting 347 lbs. of non-perishables. WAITSBURG – Robbie Skiles is seeking a volunteer to take over as Site Manager for the Senior Round Table (Meals on Wheels) luncheon served every Tuesday at noon at the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church. The community event is provided by the Walla Walla Senior Center and provides 5-6 meals to homebound clients and on-site servings of approximately 20 meals each week. “The lunch gives our seniors a chance to visit and eat a nourishing meal. SE WASHINGTON – The Washington Dept. of Natural Resources currently has funding targeting the health of forest land in eastern Washington available for cost-share fuel reduction projects. The goal of the program is to improve forest health and reduce the risk of damage from wildfire and forest insects. The Blue Mountain Resource Conservation and Development Council is assisting by providing outreach, education, and workshops in Asotin, Columbia, Garfield, and Walla Walla counties.
