Ten Years Ago February 17, 2005 The home of Robert and Terrie Abernathy was destroyed by fire which frustrated local firefighters at every turn last weekend. Crews battled the stubborn fire from about 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. when they shifted to defensive positions due to a number of factors including the presence of propane tanks. John David Delp, Sr. passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 in Spokane, Washington. John was born to Charles Edgar and Mabel Delp on September 8, 1934 in Dayton, Washington, the last of ten children. He attended Dayton schools and graduated with the Dayton High School Class of 1953. Shortly after graduation, John joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1953-1955. Ten Years Ago February 3, 2005 A garage with a bit of history for Bolles Junction-area folks was lost to fire last Friday. The structure was formerly the Bolles Junction School District’s one-room schoolhouse. Firefighters from Joint Fire District Nos. 2 and 7, and a pumper from the City of Waitsburg, responded to the 7:31 a.m. call to 13366 E. SR 124.
