    WAITSBURG-The Waitsburg High School and Middle School football teams have started practice for the upcoming season. Gabe Kiefel is in his second season as head coach of the high school team. The team was 5-5 last season. This year, Kiefel is looking to fill spots left by Cyson Morris, Jayce Gleason, Rueben Yutzy, and Blake French, who graduated last year.     WAITSBURG-The Cardinal boys basketball team has a new head coach. Coach Roy Ramirez has retired and Westin Wallace, a new high school teacher, was hired to lead the program. Wallace is a Toledo, Washington native and has played basketball since his youth. He played in three State tournaments with the 2B Riverhawks and received first-team All-State honors.     WAITSBURG - Reuben Yutzy will compete in three events at the State Track meet at Eisenhower High School in Yakima. The three-day event starts on Thursday, May 23, and ends with finals on Saturday, May 25.
