Air Force Airman Derek A. Henderson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Ronnie Henderson of Harmon St., Waitsburg, Wash., and grandson of Joanne Russell of Rancho Villa, Walla Walla, Wash.

Henderson received an associate degree in 2009 from Walla Walla Community College.
