September 14, 2000 Lions members are busily getting the fish and all the fixings ready for the much anticipated Salmon Bake tonight. Tennys Bickelhaupt will be honored at the Fall Festival this Sunday as Pioneer of the Year. The Lions Club buffalo barbecue is a crowd pleaser, with its music, the auto show and vendors.

August 29, 1985 Bob Stewart, 1967 graduate of Waitsburg High School, is starting a new business here in what was formerly the shop of the Keith Wrecking yard. The new shop will take care of automotive mechanical work as well as body and fender repairs.
James W. Bloor, formerly of Waitsburg, employed by Cooper Visaw Co. of Seattle, has been transferred to Dallas, Texas, as manager of that division.
A reception to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Chet and Ilene Townsend of Dixie will be at the Sunshine Rebekah Lodge in Dixie.

Any dogs found on the school grounds will be destroyed according to city ordinances whether or not the dogs are licensed.
Graves-Anderson of Walla Walla will furnish the safe driving car for Waitsburg High School student classes this year. The car will be a 196- Pontiac 4-door which arrived Sept. 1.
Fall activities of the Waitsburg Commercial Club will be resumed with the annual kick-off salmon bake Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the race track grounds.

August 30, 1935 This week marks the anniversary of the trial of the first combined thresher and header here. It was really the beginning of power harvesting. The first combined harvester and header was used in August, 1884, at the Robert Kennedy ranch above town. Claude Hand, Charles Sutton and Lloyd Harkins are spending a few days fishing over on 20-mile. A deal was this week consummated whereby Blain Pasley became the owner of the Rinehart Service Station. Freddie Harris and Ray Small are spending their vacations in California.

September 2, 1910 Harry Hart, of this city, has placed a dray and transfer wagon on the streets and announces that he is prepared to do a general transfer business. He solicits a portion of your patronage. Chester Keiser, assistant postmaster, went to Coeur d'Alene Thursday to make selection of a homestead in the old Reservation providing there is anything left that suits.
O.V. Langdon, proprietor of The Club, has purchased what is known as the C.L. Holt cottage on West Fourth Street and with his wife have taken possession.
One Hundred Twenty Five Years Ago
September 11, 1885 After patiently waiting for nine long, weary years, our good friends, George Rice and wife of Smith Springs, were last Sunday the 6th day of Sept., 1885, made gloriously glad by the advent of a saucy son. Dr. Hudgin was present at the time and is of the opinion that they will all recover but George. He don't know so well about him. He hopes however if it remains cool weather for the next ten days that he will come around all solid.
A large number of persons gathered at the depot last Sunday evening to get a peep at the animals, etc., as John Robinson's circus passed on its way to Dayton
Mrs. S.E. Hastings had a valuable colt stray off her premises on the Coppei last Sunday. She offers a reward of $15 for its return. The long-wished-for rain began its gentle patter on the roof about 3 o'clock Wednesday morning and by noon the dust was laid, the smoke settled, and the atmosphere purified and refreshed.
