Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
RICHLAND - The Dayton Bulldogs fell to the Liberty Christian Patriots Tuesday night, losing their match in three games 25-21, 27-25 and 25-21.
"We just lacked motivation, made too many errors and weren't consistent," head coach Shannon Turner said. "We did not play our game." The team, she said, "will learn from it and move on." After this second loss in a week, the Bulldogs are 1-2 in league competition, but it hasn't been a bad season so far at all. The Bulldogs played a close match against the Asotin Panthers last Tuesday night only to lose in the final game. "It was a competitive match," Turner said about that run in with the undefeated Panthers. "We made young mistakes and tried to force some plays, but overall we worked hard to stay in the match." By the fifth game, the Dayton's scores were 21-25, 28-26, 20-25, and 27-25, but the team lost momentum. "We were up 14-13 with the serve and made a game point for us," Turner said. "But the Asotin coach, for the third time in the match, argued with the official's call and got a re-verse, and we had our point taken away. This no doubt changed the outcome of the match." The Bulldogs lost the final game, and the night's match, 13-15.
