CHARGES BROUGHT IN STANDOFF

WALLA WALLA - Twenty-three-year old Waitsburg man Keith Eugene Adams was charged with five felonies Friday afternoon following his arrest early that morning at his Preston Avenue home. Adams allegedly held a 21-year-old woman and her two infant children at gun point. Adams was accused in Walla Walla County Superior Court of first-degree assault, harassment and three counts of unlawful imprisonment. The Walla Walla Emergency Response Unit arrived at the Waitsburg home about 1 a.m. Friday. Witness information conveyed that Adams was "extremely agitated and intoxicated," the Walla Walla County Sheriff's office reported. Adams held the two children, including an infant and a 2-year-old, hostage in the residence with him for four hours before voluntarily surrendering to the authorities. After the subject was taken into custody, a search of the residence revealed a Smith and Wesson pistol. No one was injured during the incident. Adams is being held in the Walla Walla County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
