Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - The image of the Green Giant laid out in pavers on a hillside south of Highway 12 will undergo some cleaning and retouching this weekend. The image symbolizes the history of Waitsburg and Dayton as historic Green Giant towns when the company's canning plants were still in operation in the Touchet Valley. Owner and creator Gary Lowe says he can use a hand with the replacement of the patio pavers that form the large image and is hoping high schoolers will volunteer to refresh the Green Giant's shape. Volunteers will gather at the city park's parking lot across from the high school on Second St. at 9 a.m. Saturday.
