Cardinals Beat Tri-Cities Prep At Home

WAITSBURG - Without the pressure of making it to the playoffs, the WP Cardinals began to relax and won against Tri-Cities Prep in four games Thursday night. The Cardinals, now without two of their senior starters and regular coaches due to a team controversy, beat the Cougars 23-25, 25-17, 25-22 and 26-24. quot;We felt we had to pick it up and show that we could do it after losing two starters, quot; WP junior Ronnie Hulce said. quot;It was fun. It's the best I've played this year. I finally found my stroke.quot; Hulce was mont the leaders with 14/14 serves, 2 aces, 14 kills and 3 blocks. quot; They wanted to win, quot; acting head coach Karen Huwe said. quot; You communicate better when you're having fun.quot; Suspended coaches Jessie and Katie Buehler attended the senior night game, which was emotionally important for the team, whose members said they miss the Buehlers but also pointed out they are in good hands with Huwe and assistant coach Wendy Richards. quot; They know what they're doing, quot; Hulce said.
