Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
OAKESDALE - After the intensity of the Bulldogs' Homecoming battle against WP the week before, Dayton came out sluggish against TOR last Friday and lost their away game 37-6. Dayton fumbled on the kickoff return, and TOR capitalized on the error with its first touchdown. The Bulldogs denied them a two-point conversion and shut down their offense for the remainder of the first quarter.
TOR's second touchdown came after Dayton was penalized on a pass interference call, putting the ball on the Bulldogs' 10-yard line and giving the Nighthawks position to punch it into the end zone two plays later. The extra point was good, making it 13-0. With 4.5 minutes to go in the half, TOR scored again, this time from a bad punt that started their drive on Dayton's 45-yard line and opened the door for several quarterback sneaks for another TD, making it 20-0 at halftime. During the second half, TOR ran the ball on a screen pass, and Dayton lost several tackling opportunities, allowing the Nighthawks to score again. By this time, the two teams had started a number of their Junior Varsity players, and Dayton was able to score with an overhead pass from quarterback Colton Bickelhaupt to Garett Turner for a 25-yard touchdown. TOR scored one more touchdown with their JV squad to end the score 37-6.
