Bulldogs Go To Districts

KENNEWICK - After forfeiting last week's game against DeSales, the Bulldogs came out playing somewhat rusty against Liberty Christian Tuesday night but still won their match in four: 20-25, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-18.

The victory means Dayton places second in the league and will host Liberty Christian at Dayton at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

"It took us a while to get our team thing going," head coach Shannon Turner said. "But overall, I thought they pulled it together very well." Dayton forfeited last week's match against the Irish after the district suspended the entire team for reportedly posting a team picture on Facebook that drew a complaint from a parent. To give the team a chance to reflect on what officials felt was the inappropriateness of the players' behavior, they were made to sit out one game. By the time the Bulldogs hit the court against the Patriots, it had been a week and a half since they had last played a competitive game, Turner said. The stat leaders included McKayla Bickelhaupt with 12/12 serves with 2 aces, 18 kills and 10 digs; Nicole Lambert with 15 digs; Kayla Turner with 9 kills, 16 assists, 5 aces and 2 blocks; Jessica Tate with 8 digs; Darci Hall with 14 assists; Sarah with 21/21 serves with 2 aces; Shelby Smith with 8 kills and Courtney Mings with 8/8 serves with 2 aces. The Bulldogs finished their regular season with an 8-4 record including the forfeit.

They placed second last year as well.

League Standings: 1. Asotin; 2. Dayton; 3. Liberty Christian; 4.DeSales.
