WP Flies Past Reardan To Next Playoff Round

WAITSBURG - Right out of the gate, barely 13 seconds into their first playoff game at home, the Cardinals found the end zone with their first kickoff return touchdown of the season Friday night and never looked back.

Running back Kris Cady, who marked an impressive season-total 1,000 yards rushing during the game, received the Reardan kickoff and ran it back for an 85-yard touchdown that ignited the Cardinals offense. The Cardinals scored six touchdowns, while allowing only one and without the extra point to end the game 42-6.

Fearing quarterback Chase Bell's speed, the Cardinals focused in their preparations for the game on shutting down Reardan's running game and succeeded most of the night, while pounding their opponent with its own barrage of running punches and short-range passes.

quot;We knew if we could get them to pass, we could get a win,quot; Cardinals quarterback Zach bartlow said after the game. quot;The first touchdown got us off on the right foot and gave us the momentum.quot;

Head coach Jeff bartlow said the defense shut down the run and the offense had its best game of the season. Special teams were critical, helping quot;put the dagger in them (Reardan)quot; before the half.

quot;We played good up front,quot; he said. quot;The Kids played really hard. I'm proud of them.quot;

WP at home or at a venue of its choise nearby next Friday against the winner of tonight's Oroville-White Swan game. The Dayton Bulldogs lost their tough game against Colfax 47-0 and are out of the playoffs are a successful rebuilding season.
