LAHT NEPPUR OPENS IN WALLA WALLA WALLA WALLA - Waitsburg-based Laht Neppur has opened its doors to its new ale hose at the corner of Alder and Spokane in downtown Walla Walla. So far so good. The 2,800-square-foot pub was packed on opening weekend starting Nov. 4, the owners report. For the moment, its hours will be 5 - 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 - 8 p.m. on Sunday. PETE'S SKI SHOP CLOSED WALLA WALLA - Pete's on Main Street in Walla Walla, for years a popular place to shop for ski, snowboard equipment and water sports gear, has closed. Owner Hal White said despite the rescue of Ski Bluewood, his business simply could not hang on another year as the economy is dragging along and equipment producers have switched to direct online sales to consumers. "We're a dying breed," he said in a reference to ski gear retailers. He will continue to tune ski gear from his home. Dusty's on Isaacs and the Lost Boardroom on Main still sell ski and snow board gear for those getting ready for another year on the slopes.

CALLING ALL PET OWNERS DAYTON - The old Snowflake building on Main Street finally has a new tenant. C.W. Friends owned by Cindy Joy has set up a pet grooming business at the building on 139 E. Main, offering dog grooming, day care, pet photography and more with pick up and deliveries available. Dayton Mayor Craig George cut the ribbon for the store at its grand opening Nov. 1. For appointments, call 509-382-4810.
