Steven Charles Ed­wards

died peacefully at home in Dayton on Novem­ber 6, 2010, surrounded by his family. A celebration of Steve's life will be held Sat­urday,

November 20, 2010, at 11 a.m., at the Dayton First Congregational Church, 214 S. Third Street. The Rev. Bill Graham and the Rev. Mike Ferrians will officiate.

Steve was born September

1951, in Monterey Park, California, to Carol and Wal­ter

B. Edwards. He graduated from Gooding High School in Gooding, Idaho, in 1969. Steve married his life partner, Roslyn Lydia Sonnenstuhl, on November 10, 1979, in Kettle Falls, Washington. In 1987 Steven received his B.A. degree from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash. He got his Masters of Divinity from George Fox University in 1993. Steve served as pastor of the Dayton First Congre­gational Church from 1993 until his death. Previously, he worked as a professional musician, nurse, social worker and lay minister with the UCC de­nomination.

He also operated Dayton Counseling Services for several years.

As a member of the origi­nal group who formed the Touchet Valley Arts Council, Steve helped with restora­tion of Dayton's Liberty Theater. He was the creator and director of The Penrose Players and was a member of TVAC Productions. He was a director, actor and production manager for many of TVAC Productions' fall musicals at the Liberty Theater. Steve was a past member of the Dayton City Council and the Dayton City Plan­ning Commission, and he supported the Touchet Valley Ministerial Association. He was also a member of the lo­cal AA Chapter. All his life, Steve loved music, theater and traveling. He also loved spending time with his family at the cabin he built on the North Touchet River, sunsets and walks with his wife Rosey.

Steve is survived by his wife, Roslyn, at home; his children, Thorin Zanger and wife Jane of Walla Walla, Matthew Zanger and wife Nyssa of Dayton, Alicia Penner and husband Seth of Portland, Benjamin Edwards and girlfriend Alicia of Ta­coma, and Bethany Rahn and husband Chris of Dayton; grandchildren, Kiara, Gen­evieve, Annabella, Isabelle, Jack and Hunter; and his brother, Randy Edwards of Minden, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Charles Confer; brother, Har­ley Confer; and sister, Susan Penner. Memorial donations may be made to the Dayton First Congregational Church, the Walla Walla Chapter of Hos­pice or the Steve Edwards Memorial Creative Arts Scholarship Fund, care of the Dayton School District.
