ASOTIN - Saturday night's game against the Lady Panthers was another loss for the Lady Bulldogs with a final score of 59-46, but it was an improvement over their defeat against WP Friday.
Against WP's larger, more experienced team, the Lady Bulldogs fell 68-33.
On Asotin's court, the Dayton girls had to push hard to keep up. Nicole Lambert led with 13 points, followed by Jessica Tate with eight. Both Samura Miller and McKayla Bickelhapt scored seven points.
Zara Reynolds led Asotin with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Once again turnovers were a big problem for the Bulldogs. Hitting 35 was hard on the team, head coach Scott Hudson said.
The Lady Panthers made steady progress against Dayton throughout the night, and the Lady Bulldogs were never able to close the gap.
Friday's heavy loss against the Cardinals was a bit of puzzle to Hudson, who said the girls played well and had plenty of shots but didn't sink their buckets.
"I was happy because 80 percent of our game (plan) was working" he said. "Everything was clicking for us except we couldn't get the ball in the basket."
The lady Bulldogs only made 8 of their 62 shots from the court. They made 15 out of 28 at the free throw line.
"We got to work on execution," Dayton player Jessica Tate said after the game. "We learned a lot tonight."
Bulldog Courtney Mings said "everybody gave 110 percent the whole game, but we were wishing our shots would fall."
The Lady Bulldogs host an alumni exhibition basketball game Monday, Dec. 27, at 6 p.m. The holiday tournament at Helix takes place just before New Year's - Dec. 28 and 29.
