Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
I am proud of America, and I believe that is a good way to express my patriotic role as a young United States citizen. I am only in eighth grade, and as I grow up I am sure I will feel even more proud of my country. To be a patriot is to love your country and support its authority that is something we all should do. I am proud of America for what we have accomplished and what we still can do in the future. I believe in supporting our troops and I want to try to do whatever I can to help them. They are fighting to keep us free and I am grateful for what they are doing to protect us. I think all citizens should consider serving our country in the armed services or in politics.
At my age, students should know about, and understand where we came from and why the founding fathers set up the government the way they did. I feel it is my responsibility to learn this information so I can be an informed voter when the time comes. Having the right to vote is an important right and we should take it more seriously. Many people vote for a person just because they like the way they look or talk. I will learn about the person and what he, or she, believes in before I will vote for them.
The youth in the United States can do more important things as our patriotic role in America. One way is to help keep our beautiful country clean. We can do this by recycling and cleaning up garbage in public places. I believe we need to follow the good morals our country was founded on, like being kind to each other, helping our friends and neighbors, and just doing the right thing.
I think America is a great country and has given the people of this world hope. I pray that the United States of America will always be a country of hope so that when I grow up I will have a chance to make a difference in the world.
