Beatrice June Wisdom Smith, 95, died on January 11, 2011. A private Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Apostles in Oro Valley, Arizona. Bea- trice's ashes will be buried in Waitsburg in the Wisdom plot by her parents in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Beatrice was born on June 24, 1915, in Prescott, Washington. She grew up on her parent's (Aubert & Constance Wisdom) wheat ranch near Waitsburg, Washington. Beatrice graduated from Dixie High School, where she was a local girls' basketball star.
She became a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Nursing School in Spokane, Washington, and upon graduation worked as an RN in Portland, Oregon. After meeting and marrying her husband, Alan W. Smith Jr., they eventually lived in Seaside, Oregon, for many years.
Beatrice was retired from the Seaside Hospital and was widowed in 1976. Beatrice lived with and cared for her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly S. Neal, Jr., for the last 20 years of her life in Phoenix and more recently in Tucson, Arizona.
She is survived by her only child, A. Diann Neal; grandchildren, Kelly S. Neal III and Karter B. Neal DVM; and by her two greatgrandchildren, Madalaine M. Hembrough and William I. Hembrough.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to either the Episcopal Church of the Apostles in Tucson, Calvary Episcopal Church in Seaside, or the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
