Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
The three brave ladies from Waitsburg did it. From left to right in the foreground (first shot), plungers Joanna Lanning, Patty Hazelwood and Vickie Hamann take the jump into the 38-degree water of the Columbia River with $1,000 in pledges for the Special Olympics of Washington at stake. About 300 undaunted souls from southeast Washington participated in the event Saturday and raised $77,000 for the cause. Sooner or later, recruiting will begin for 2012. But what are you waiting for? Sign up now for next year's "Freezing For A Reason" Polar Plunge and start gathering pledges.
