Lyle L. Luellen passed away on February 19, 2011, in St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was 72 years, 4 months, and 23 days of age. Services were arranged by Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, on February 23.
Lyle was born on September 27, 1938, to the late Sam and Elzada (Ferguson) Luellen in Bertha, Missouri. Lyle attended school at Bertha, Hickory Flats, and Mountain Grove before moving to Dayton, Washington, in 1955. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1957.
While living in Dayton, Lyle worked as a farmer and for the Green Giant Company. He was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter and a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. He moved to Gentryville, Missouri, 20 years ago where he was a Volunteer Fire Fighter, a Storm Watcher, and a First Responder. He helped many people throughout his life and helped finance the new fire station building. Lyle also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Luellen, and one sister, Moelia Wilson.
He is survived by four brothers: Sam Luellen and his wife, Ann, of Leesburg, Florida; Kenneth Luellen and his wife, Jeanette, of Louisville, Nebraska; Lawrence Luellen and his wife, Mary, of Gentryville, Missouri; and Jim Luellen and his wife Sharon, of Gentryville; five sisters: Ilga Bensen of Odessa, Missouri; Genevie Luellen of Columbia, Missouri; Kathy Haynie and her husband, Don, of Gentryville; Linda Robbins and her husband, Tom, of Manley, Nebraska; and Carol Pulliam and her husband, Gerald, of Dayton, Washington; and many other friends and neighbors who will greatly miss him.
