TWELVE MAKE ALL DISTRICT

WAITSBURG - Twelve Touchet Valley basketball players made All District.

From the Waitsburg Prescott men's team, they are: junior Zach Bartlow and senior Kris Cady on All District First team. Senior Matt Hamilton made Honorable Mention.

From the Lady Cardinals, they are: senior Genesis Pearson, senior Megan Withers, junior Ronnie Hulce and junior Kristin Potter on All District First Team. Junior Dionna Baker received Honorable Mention.

From the Dayton men's team, junior Garett Turner, junior Hayden Fullerton and junior Kroft Sunderland made All District First Team.

From the Bulldogs women's team, junior Nicole Lambert made All District First Team, while sophomore McKayla Bickelhaupt received Honorable Mention.

FIRST ANNUAL "SNOW HOOPS"

DAYTON - Six- t ime NBA Al l Star Shawn Kemp, former national ski champion and 3BA International's co-founder Brenda Ford, and the new owners of Dayton's Ski Bluewood, Mike and Kelly Stephenson, are teaming up to host the first a "SNOW HOOPS" February 26th at Ski Bluewood. This dynamic event will launch a plan to create youth basketball camps at ski resorts across the state. The hosts of this event have a passion for youth, and are excited to create such a fun and unique event in support of local youth. Snow Hoops takes basketball skills and adds the challenge of skiing or snowboarding to the hoops. As part of this event, participants can choose to play a friendly game of HORSE down the mountain. Shawn Kemp will spend the day skiing with Bluewood skiers, shooting hoops, signing autographs and handing out prizes which include: A Season pass to Ski Bluewood, autographed 3BA T-Shirts gloves, hats and lift tickets and more.

SAGEHENS GO TO SWEETS

WALLA WALLA - Pomona College and Pitzer College, who combine for athletics to form the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, will send two standout ballplayers to Walla Walla this summer.

Nick Gentili and James Campbell have signed contracts to play West Coast League baseball for the Sweets after completing their collegiate seasons in southern California.

Gentili, a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) second team selection as a freshman in 2010, will join teammate Campbell, one of the Sagehens leading offensive weapons so far in the 2011 season.

Gentili, a 6-foot, 2-inch, 185-pound sophomore utility player, hit .384 with 5 HR and 44 RBI while starting in 41 of the Sagehens' 42 games last season. He also appeared on the mound three times and posted an ERA of 3.86. A St. Francis High School product from Glendale, Calif., Gentili was named second team all-Mission League as a senior.
