PRESCOTT POOL NEEDS HELP
PRESCOTT - Want to swim all summer and not spend a dime on pool fees? Volunteer this year at the Prescott Swimming Pool. The pool will open at noon on June 10 and continue through August 28, seven days a week, with swimming lessons and aerobics sessions as well as regular open swimming. Volunteers who come to work days this spring, sign in, and volunteer time can earn credits to be applied toward swimming fees. There are employment opportunities for qualified lifeguards and adults to work as part time pool supervisors as well. The district also seeks applications for Certified Pool Operators (CPO) who hold a current certificate or applicants who are willing to be trained as CPO operators. DAYTON DONKEY GAMES
DAYTON - The Dayton High School ASB has organized a Donkey Basketball fundraiser for Tuesday, March 29. A man from Eniat, Washington, is bringing his donkeys, and the school will have two different teams competing. They hope is to have a packed gym to support the high school and enjoy a fun and eventful night of riding donkeys and playing basketball. Gate prices are $9 for adults, $7 for students and $5 for children.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION OPENS
WAITSBURG - Children who will enter kindergarten at Waitsburg Elementary School next fall can register March 28 and March 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or March 30 and March 31 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the elementary office. Children must be 5 year old as of midnight August 31. A current immunization record and an official state birth certificate are needed to register. Official Washington State birth certificates can be obtained at the local public health office. If you are not able to register on one of the registration dates, or if you have any questions, contact the elementary office at 337-6461.
LOCAL GRADS HONORED
Local Dayton graduate Stephanie Kristine Turner, daughter of Shannon and Jeff Turner of Dayton, received her bachelor of arts degree in communication studies with an entertainment management certification this quarter at the University of Montana. Sarah Michelle Paul, a 2008 graduate of Waitsburg High, has been included in the names of students listed in the winter quarter dean's honor list at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. Paul is the daughter of Mark and Mary Kay Paul of Waitsburg . Mindy Ann Puller and Colton James Townsend are Waitsburg alumni listed on Washington State University's presidents list in Pullman, Wash. Dayton alumni on WSU's presidents list include: Kelsey Elizabeth Bailey, Kendra Marie Demaris, Zachary Andrew Kiefer, Lacy May Nichols, James Wayne Pettett, Stacia Alexis Talbott, Garrett E Warren, Kelsey Kay Warren, and Annie Catherine Wynkoop.

PRESS BOX BENEFIT APRIL 15
WAITSBURG - The Cardinals Booster Club is hosting "Not So Silent" Auction & Dinner to raise money for the new press box and storage facility on cardinal Field. Bidding will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. at the Waitsburg Elementary Multi-Purpose Room on Friday, April 15. Spaghetti dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. The group has already received some very desirable gift baskets, food items, getaways, sports memorabilia for bid, but are hoping Cardinal fans and other local residents will donate more. Donations can be dropped off at Waitsburg High School or with Jeff and Lori Bartlow. Tickets for the benefit are sold in advance at Waitsburg Grocery, Waitsburg Hardware & Mercantile and America West Bank or at the door.
LOCAL ARTISTS AT WILLOW
WALLA WALLA - Local artist Elizabeth Harris will demonstrate her gilding process using materials and "tools of the trade" on Friday, April 1, beginning at 6 p.m. at Willow boutique and art gallery in Walla Walla. Another local artist, Hans Matschukat, will also be in attendance to answer questions about his photography and frame-building. BOX TOPS FOR PRESCOTT SCHOOL
PRESCOTT - Prescott School District hopes to earn free merchandise such as computers, audio/visual equipment, physical education equipment, reference books, musical instruments or even a mini-van by collecting UPCs from Campbell merchandise. For more information on how to be a part of Prescott School District's Labels for Education collection drive, contact the school coordinator, Kathy Curtis, at 849-2215. The 2010-2011 program runs until June 1, 2011.
