Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Dear Editor,

Ms. McVey's remarks (in her letter to the editor published in the Times on March 31), critical of our current city council members, just makes me tired all over.

She is not satisfied with simply being critical of the "council," she goes for the whole ball of wax, blaming the voters of Waitsburg.

It is not unreasonable to believe her opinion expresses her confusion of Waitsburg operations and goals.

Why would she be concerned if the council meets once or four times a month, if she does not attend the council meetings?

Additionally, urging voters to "look carefully at all the candidates" assumes that perhaps hers is the only reasoned vote.

Being active in our community extends beyond our personal pet project or vote. It is a state of mind, not unlike the "Minute Men" of old, that prepares individuals for actions that are positive and goal directed.

If an individual simply picks up a piece of trash off of a Waitsburg sidewalk or street, they will have done a great service for the City.

Even if all one can do is say, "Thank you," to the city clerk, mayor or a council member, that individual will have added to our community's value.

I am proud of our current council and their wives. I look forward to what our mayor, council members, and the voters of Waitsburg will accomplish in the near future.

As (the people of) Israel wandered 40 years, so we have not reached our Promised Land.

William Walker, Waitsburg
