PRESCOTT STUDENTS HONORED

PRESCOTT - Prescott High School students Angelica Bedolla, Olivia Ortega, Marlene Martinez and Cynthia Zuniga Rubio were recently named by advisor Maryann Newell to the National Honor Society at a new-member induction in Walla Walla. National Honor Society members must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and higher, demonstrate character becoming a member, show good leadership skills through activities and participate in school and community service projects.

In addition, several students were honored for high GPAs in the third term. Prescott High School's Principal's List for students with a 3.5 or better included seniors Guillermo Hernandez, Cesar Munguia and David Brock; juniors Claudio Nunez, Lucas Suhadolniki and Logan Wanous; sophomores Claudia Soriano and Eva Esquivel Zungia; and freshmen Mavrick Nelson and Selina Benito.

Honor Roll students with a 3.0-3.5 were seniors Iris Batalla, Miguel Velazco, Anahi Diaz, Isabel Benito, Amanda Beckman, Joseph Purdin and Alexis Villalvazo; juniors Alejando Cruz, Francisco Gonzalez, Anel Martinez, Tonde Rowlette and Anallely Castaneda; sophomores Juana Valdovinos, Cynthia Zungio, Veronica Escalante, Angelica Bedolla, Olivia Ortega, Ruby Espinoza and Aldair Escalante; and freshmen Alberto Sandoval, Marivel Contreras, Erik Sandoval, Ida Ray, Yesenia Escalante and Olivia Orthmann.

SPEAKER TO TALK ABOUT NEW BAR

WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg Commercial Club will host its bi-monthly meeting at the Waitsburg Town Hall, 122 Main Street, at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 19. Featured speaker will be Jim German, owner of jimgermanbar in Waitsburg. He will speak about the Anchor, a new bar opening this summer in Waitsburg. German is the project manager for the development of the Anchor. MINSTREL PERFORMS COWBOY POETRY

WAITSBURG - Prescott singer/songwriter Sue Matley (better known as Cimarron Sue) will be performing next week at Waitsburg's Weller Public Library in honor of Cowboy Poetry Week. She will share her cowboy poetry and music on Monday, April 18, at 5 p.m.

FREE HANDS-ONLY CPR CLASS

WAITSBURG - The Blue Mountain Chapter of the American Red Cross, out of Walla Walla, is offering a free, Hands-Only CPR class at the Waitsburg Lions Club on Wednesday, April 27, from 6-7:30 p.m. Register at Waitsburg City Hall or call 337-6371. SYMPHONY EVENT ANNOUNCED

WALLA WALLA - "There's Always Room for Cellos" will be featured on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Walla Walla Country Club as part of the Walla Walla Symphony's Saturday Soirée Chamber Music Series. Cellos provide the program for this unique event, with eight cellists performing as a group and as duos, trios, and quartets. They will perform pieces from Bach to Faure to Leroy Anderson, among others.

Complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine, coffee and tea will be served.
