DAYTON - The Lady Bulldogs had their first loss of the season in double league match ups against Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia at home on Saturday.
The split game, with a 6-8 loss in game one and a 15-11 victory in game two, puts the softball team at 5-1 in league and 9-1 overall.
The first game was close, with Dayton scoring the first runs. But in the 6th and 7th innings, the Spartans scored all eight of their runs.
On defense, Kayla Turner pitched with Miwa Umeda behind home plate, a solid partnership that has seen the Bulldogs through a number of league wins this season.
Bulldog hits were made by Samantha Harting (2), Umeda, Nicole Lambert (2), Turner and Jessica Tate (2).
In the game two win, the Bulldogs made four errors, but Dayton pitcher Harting recorded five strikeouts. She had three walks. Turner had eight strikeouts and two walks in game one. Umeda continued into game two as catcher.
Hits in game two were made by Turner (2), Harting (4), Lambert (3), McKayla Bickelhaupt (3), Umeda (2), Shelby Smith (2) and Taylor DeRuwe (2).
The Dayton ladies were scheduled to host Touchet in a nonleague game at home on Monday, but bad conditions on the field forced officials to reschedule that game for later in the week. The Lady Bulldogs plan to play again Wednesday.
Friday, the Bulldogs take on the WP Tigers in league match ups beginning at 4 p.m.
