Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
A merican Legion Auxiliary are honor ing our Veterans, Past, Present, and Future, by asking our Veterans to be in the Waitsburg Community Parade, to be held May 21, 2011, Armed Forces Day. We plan to meet behind the American West Bank to get lined up at 9:30 a.m.
The World War II Veterans will lead the way in Jay Thomas' wagon. The remainder will ride on the Auxiliary's float and follow in cars.
Letters of invitation have been sent to area Legion and V.F.W. members, but all Veterans are welcome. We are asking anyone that would like to drive their convertible and drive a Veteran(s) in the parade to also contact B. A. Keve, ikbakeve@charter.net or 337- 6546. Those who want to walk are welcome to do so.
An entry form that will require their signature can be obtained from B. A., and must be returned to her by May 16, to organize transportation. She will see that Gail Wolfe gets them by the deadline on the 18th.
Weather permitting; Perry Dozier will do a fly over to start the parade.
In the afternoon at the park there will be a section of chairs set up so the veterans can visit there and talk with anyone that would like to hear their service connected stories.
