QUARTERBACK CLUB GOLF
WAITSBURG - The Quarterback Club will hold its annual golf tournament to raise money for the Cardinals football and basketball programs on Sunday, June 6, at 1 p.m. at the Touchet Valley Golf Course.
Grand prize for the three-men format scramble will be a golf package to the Hawaiian Valley Golf Course near Walla Walla. Call T.J. Scott at 509-240-0990.
BIG GRANT FOR LYONS FERRY
STARBUCK - Bruce Williams, president of the Blue Mountain RC&D Council announced Tuesday that the regional nonprofit landed a grant to install an accessible walkway and fishing deck at Lyons Ferry Marina. The total project cost is about $72,000.
A 372-foot walkway is planned from the parking lot to the edge of the Snake River where a fishing pad will be installed.
"This is great," said Jim MacArthur, manager of the Starbuck/Lyons Ferry marina KOA. "Having a handicapaccessible walkway will be great for the public and the marina."
FARMERS MARKET MEETING
DAYTON - A planning discussion has been scheduled at the Delaney Building for 7 p.m. on Friday, May 20, to determine what type of organization should manage market duties for the Dayton Farmers Market.
Candy Jones will facilitate a visioning discussion for the future of the farmers market. All current and prospective vendors as well as community members are invited to attend and share their vision. Market coordinator Donna Helsius encourages your participation in our local community.
WOLLMUTH TO HEAD WINE GROUP
WALLA WALLA - Duane Wollmuth, until recently head of the Southeast Washington Economic Development Association, has been recruited to head the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance.
Wollmuth, former owner of Three Rivers Winery, resigned from SEWEDA last week to assume his new position with the alliance, which coordinates promotions, advocacy, research and education for the local wine industry.
The alliance is based on Main Street in Walla Walla and represents more than 80 wineries and vineyards.
SURVEY FOR COUNTY RESIDENTS
WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla County Commissioners have posted a survey on line for county residents who wish to express their views on property taxes, a proposed sales tax increase and a plan to divert road funds for other department needs.
Commissioners Perry Dozier, Gregg Loney and Greg Tompkins said the online survey is being tried as a way to give county residents a better way to let their views be known. It would also offer an alternative outlet for people who are unable to attend commission meetings.

WW FAIR GETS JOEY & RORY
WALLA WALLA - A Walla Walla Fair crowd favorite from 2009 has agreed to return this year.
Walla Walla Fair Concert Director Bill Clemens, has added the group to the Wednesday night fair "kick-off" concert lineup.
This year's concert starts at 6:30 p.m. on August 31, featuring the ACM "Top New Vocal Duo" Joey & Rory opening for LoCash Cowboys and The Band Perry.
The husband and wife duo performed at the fair three years ago and won over audiences with their talent and downhome charm.
