Come celebrate the Frenchtown Historic Site Grand Opening Honoring the bicentennial of the beginning of the fur trade. Participants can enjoy events beginning at 12:30 p.m.

A guided tour of the site, which is on the grounds of the 1855 Battle of Walla Walla and is also the location of the 1876 Saint Rose of Lima Mission and Frenchtown Cemetery

To get to Frenchtown from new Highway 12, turn south on Frenchtown Road at the sign for the Frenchtown Historic Site approximately eight miles west of Walla Walla. Turn right at Old Highway 12 and go one mile to the entrance and drive on the right. Coming from Walla Walla on Old Highway 12, continue west past the Whitman Mission site, one mile to the historical markers at Frenchtown Road and continue another mile west on Old Highway 12 to the Frenchtown entrance.

Ladies enjoy a Garden Party Brunch at Judy Jackson's home in Starbuck from 10 a.m. to Noon. Participants will see Betsy Nemitz' stunning yard art, relax to the music of Debbie Hoilman, and hear a refreshing story told by Anna Tracy. Cost is $9. This event is catered by Louann Truesdale.

Babysitting is available and reservations are necessary. Please call Judy Jackson at 399-2005 to reserve your lunch and also to let her know if you need a babysitter for the luncheon. Please honor your reservation; "gift" it to a friend, or call Judy by noon on Friday, July 8 to cancel if your plans change. Everyone is invited to gather at the 6th Mule Mania at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Dayton. A show to educate the public about the great qualities and versatility of the mule and donkey. The Mule and Donkey Show is offered to riders of all ages and abilities, an opportunity to get together and have fun. Competition is in a variety of classes from Western and English Pleasure, Dressage, Trail, Cattle and Driving.

At 10 a.m.-Parade in historic downtown Dayton on Saturday, July 16 is coupled with the annual Dayton Alumni Parade. There will be a Chuck Wagon Association Cook-Off Competition Friday and Saturday evenings and "The Gathering," a display of Vendors and Booths displaying and selling unique western items. Live Music and a Beer and Wine Garden is all part of the fun. Sunday brings Cowboy Church.

The Dayton Mule Ryder Cup will be the first golf tournament to bring mule riders (yes, someone will be on the mule) and local golf enthusiasts together in a 3-person scramble on 7 holes. Free admission.

Dayton Alumni Weekend. Enjoy a fun alumni parade at 10a.m. on July 16, along with the Mule Mania parade, picnics and gatherings. For more info call 509-382-2687.

The Bridge Band will be performing at the Columbia County Fairgrounds from 5 to 7 p.m. This 7- member band plays contemporary country, classic rock and gospel music. A 1982 Dayton Alumni member, Shane Groom, is one of the band members. Admission is free and the public is welcome. .

All you can eat Community Club breakfast in the Lions Hall, 101 South D St. in Prescott from 8to 11 .a.m. A delicious breakfast prepared by the Community Church ladies. Cost is $5.99

A Solar Celebration: Solar baked cookies and other solar activities at Whitman Park, 328 Whitman Mission Rd. in Walla Walla from 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy free admission to the historic Depot during Dayton's Alumni Weekend. Take a look at the current exhibit upstairs, shop in the Museum Gift Shop downstairs, and experience history first hand. The Depot Courtyard hosts the annual Alumni Meeting at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Pataha Rustlers present the first annual match, the "Little-Big" Match at Patit Gun Range, Range Grade Rd, Dayton. Fees are $30 for one shooter, $50 for a couple, and $15 each for junior or buckaroo shooters (just to cover lunches).

Join us at the Lions building at Waitsburg Fairgrounds for a dinner and silent auction fundraiser to benefit NTASin honor of Dennis Nostrant from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be a raffle for a half of beef-cut and wrapped. The dinner tickets are $1 for adults. Children 7-12 $6.00, and under 6 is free. The beef raffle tickets are $5 dollars each or 5 for $20. Call 540- 0615 or 629-2568 for more details.

Enjoy a little country, a little acoustic rock mixed with a little Cowboy yodeling, bluegrass and jazz with Mark Holt at the Dayton Wine Works, 307 East Main St., Dayton. This is an adult event. Mark was raised on the Yakama Indian Reservation and has been a featured showcase artist for the International Bluegrass Music Association.7 to 10 p.m. $5 cover charge.
