PLANNING COMMISSIONERS WANTED
WAITSBURG - The City of Waitsburg Planning Commission has three vacancies it needs to fill, City Clerk Randy Ninchliffe said.
The six-member commission, which helps the city decide on the dedication of streets and alleys, reviewsconditional use permits, variances and interprets zoning, meets the first Thursday of every month and when there is business to address.
The commission also makes recommendations for changes in the comprehensive plan, building codes, subdivision codes, zoning codes, environment code, plat applications and binding site plans, signage and other actions requested or remanded by the city council.
Anyone interested in the six-year position can pick up an application at City Hall along with a description of the duties. Or call city hall at 509-337-6371.
EVENING AT THE DEPOT
DAYTON - The Evening at the Depot Benefit Auction is happening from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 6. The event will be held in the courtyard of the historic depot in Dayton. Admission is free and those 21 and older are invited. There will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beer, wine and refreshments will be available for purchase. BIBLE SCHOOL BIG HIT
WAITSBURG - The weeklong PandaMania bible school program at the Christian churches in Waitsburg attracted 45 local children, 20 teenage helpers and 25 adults.
The K-5th grade kids learned about the place "Where God Is Wild About You" during the week of July 11.

DAYTON - Students can participate in theater production
A Missoula Children's Theatre tour group will begin its week-long residency in Dayton on Aug. 1 to present Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. About 50 local students can participate in the production. For students in kindergarten through 12th grades who want to participate, pre-registration will be July 29, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Theater. The show will run Aug. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Theater. Tickets are $5 and $7 and can be purchased online at WWW. libertytheater.org or at the theater.

SHAKESPEARE SEASON
WALLA WALLA - Shakespeare Walla Walla is introducing a second venue for patrons in the newly opened Blackfriars-inspired Power House Theatre, 111 N. 6th Ave. Swansong by Patrick Page makes its Walla Walla debut indoors in the intimacy of the Elizabethan-era configuration, 340-seat, Power House Theatre, Aug. 4-7.
Swansong is the often funny, often heartwarming, and always remarkable story of the friendship between William Shakespeare and peer/rival playwright, Ben Jonson.
Swansong was written by Whitman College Alum Patrick Page, a deeply respected Shakespearean actor of national reputation, who is currently starring on Broadway as the Green Goblin in Spiderman. WALLA WALLA - The Matt Schofield Band, an awardwinning British blues band, will perform at 7 p.m. on July 27 at the Walla Walla Community College Performing Arts Center.
