LYLE DEAN JUDD

Lyle Dean Judd of 203 Bruce Street Waitsburg, WA was born September 4, 1916 to Everett L. and Ester (Trembley) Judd in Lineville, Iowa. He passed away Sept. 18, 2011 at Booker Rest Home in Dayton, Wash. at the age of 95.

Lyle attended school in Lineville and graduated from High School in 1933 at the age of 16.

Working for a dairy farmer for 50 cents a day plus room and board, he saved enough money to attend Simpson college. He ordered clothes from Spiegel on time. Lyle graduated in 2 years and began teaching school just before his 18th birthday. He taught for two years at Pioneer country school, then two years at Sewall, and another two years at Pioneer.

In 1938 Lyle married Lois Van Pelt. They had one son, Larry. This marriage ended in divorce.

In 1942 he married Iva Reynolds. They had one son, James. This marriage ended in divorce in 1956.

He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942, entered in 1943. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946 earning the American Theatre Rib, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.

On August 11, 1961 he married Lillian (Shawver) Gordon. He helped to raise her five children. On August 11, 2011 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

He moved to the Northwest in 1946 and in 1956 to Viola, Idaho where he logged with his son Larry. Lyle was a janitor at WSU, and then at the University of Idaho he was janitor supervisor until he retired in 1978 at the age of 62. In retirement he raised weiner pigs to sell, and then changed to cattle. They moved to Prescott in 1987 and to Waitsburg in 1996.

His hobbies through the years were riding motorcycles when young and packing into the Selway Locksa Mountains in Idaho with wife Lillian and friends to hunt elk. He enjoyed watching the birds in the yard and all the beautiful flowers Lillian planted and cared for, western music and visiting with friends at the local Hardware store. He was a good father and friend to many. He will be missed.

Lyle is survived by wife Lillian at home in Waitsburg; son Larry and wife Jeannie of Weston, Colorado; daughterin law Pam (Judd) Ensley of Washougal, Wash.; stepchildren Judy McKinney of Spokane, Linda Brower of Troy, Ida., Bill Gordon of Elk City, Ida and Mike Gordon ( and wife Cathy) of Clarkston, Wash.; five grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson and 1 step greatgreat granddaughter. His favorite Uncle Ivan Trembley and wife Marge of Lineville, Iowa, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
