November sixth is recognized by many in the U.S. as Orphan Sunday. This growing movement within churches takes Nov. 6to gather together in prayer and reflect on how the church can meet the needs of orphans worldwide. The apostle James called caring for the orphaned, "pure and faultless religion." I would like to encourage communities to join in this movement. There are many opportunities in the area to learn, pray or give to the orphaned and those caring for the orphaned.

I'd like to share with you the ones that I am informed of. If you have an interest in adoption or orphan care consider learning more about both at The Heart For The Fatherless Conference at Calvary Chapel Tri-Cities in Kennewick on Nov. 4. You can find out more by visiting their website: www.cctcorphanministry.org.The charity wine Monesia's Song is being released by Walla Walla winemaker Josh McDaniels on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sweet Valley tasting room on Second Street in Walla Walla.

This new label will be donating thirty percent of its profits to the Walla Walla based non-profit organization, Embracing Orphans. Come taste wine, listen to musicians Terah and Mark Wade of Portland, and financially assist the orphaned of Jamaica through the purchase of Monesia's Song.

On Nov. 6, Journey Church on Rose St. in Walla Walla will be celebrating Orphan Sunday at 10 a.m. with stories, music, and a message that encourages the care of the orphaned and shares the heart of the Father in Heaven.

Please share these opportunities at your church, small group, with friends, and family. Join in one of these events or find your own way to be a part of this reminder to care for the orphaned.
