Ida Mae Scott

Ida Mae Scott, age 96 years, died November 18, 2011 at the Dayton General Hospital. Viewing will be Friday, November 25, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Hubbard Rogg Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 am at the family plot in the Dayton City Cemetery and Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm at the First Congregational Church with The Reverend Bill Graham officiating. Ida Mae was born on July 16, 1915 in Hubbard, Oregon, one of 7 children born to George and Sophie Markuson Beam. She graduated from West Linn High School with the class of 1933. She married William O. Scott on June 12, 1935 and they later moved to Dayton where he had the Ford dealership. He died December 20, 1954. Ida Mae went on to raise her family of three and help many more in the community through 4-H, Cub Scouts, Bluebirds, Horizon Club, Campfire and Sunday school. Though not one to toot her own horn she was the recipient of many awards, including being one of the first 100 outstanding Washington 4-H leaders. She also received her 50 year pin in 4-H, the National award for Campfire leadership and Outstanding Service Award from the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. She worked at the Green Giant cannery in the summers and was a member of the Vientas Club and the First Congregational Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing for herself and her family. She also enjoyed making lap robes for the nursing home patients and helped make over 100 sleeping bags for the homeless shelters. Ida Mae is survived by a sister and brother-in-law Georgiann and Roger Swaren of Tigard, Oregon, daughter and son-in-law, Janette and Buck Hollenback, of Washtucna, WA, son George Scott of Bellingham, WA and son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Karla Scott of Waitsburg, WA. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren; Bill Hollenback, Carla (Mike) Jerue, Richard Scott, Lori (Darrell) Spivey, Robynn (Pat) Woodbury, Scott (Huong) Hollenback, Renee (Andrew) Adams, TJ Scott, and Kristyn Scott. She also had 9 great-grandchildren: Chris Jerue, Bryce Scott, Nicole Woodbury, Ashley Woodbury, Drew Adams, TanAn Hollenback, Mya Adams, Melanie Spivey and LienHoa Hollenback. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Those who wish may contribute to the Washington State 4-H Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice through Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home, 111 S. 2nd St, Dayton, WA 99328.
