CELEBRATING WP'S FOOTBALL TEAM
WAITSBURG -- The Lions Club and Commercial Club will be sponsoring a community-wide celebration for the WP football team on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in Ye Town Hall. A hot dog supper will be provided and all are invited to attend as we honor the accomplishments of our WP Football team. There is no cost to come share in the event. People planning to come should call 337-9474 by Dec. 12.
WAITSBURG SCHOOL CONCERT
WAITSBURG -- This year's Christmas Concert at Waitsburg School will feature four fine groups of young musicians, on Monday, Dec. 12 in the WHS auditorium. Leading off will be the WHS guitar class performing its own arrangement of "Carol of the Bells," as well as a song by the Avett Brothers and "Sweet Home Chicago" - with blues singing by the Italian blues man Francesco Nobili and blues harp by Mr. Green and Selena Bundy. Mrs. Wilson's sixth grade band will play a set of beginning band and Christmas music. The Preston Hall seventh-eighth grade band comes next, swinging with "It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got That Swing" and "Jingle Bells, Jungle Drums." Capping the night will be the mighty WHS Band, playing "African Bell Carol" and the famous "Sleigh Ride." The Touchet Valley community is cordially invited to hear the musicians in concert at 7 p.m. on Monday.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
WAITSBURG -- The Waitsburg Ministerial Association invites members of the community to a Christmas Eve Service, at 6 p.m., Dec. 24, at the Waitsburg Chapel, 320 W. 2nd, Waitsburg.
The service will include scripture readings, music and candlelight for faithful celebrating Christmas. Pastor for the service will be Rev. Jimmie A. Davis. For more information, contact 337-6235.
CHRISTMAS BAKE SALE
PRESCOTT -- The Friends of the Prescott Library will be hosting a Christmas Bake sale on Saturday and Sunday Dec. 17 and 18 from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Prescott Lions Hall. ATTEND CITIZENS ACADEMY
DAYTON -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office welcomes community members to join its free, 16-week Citizens Academy for answers to these questions and many more. The class is Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Applications are available now by calling (509) 382-0911. The deadline is Feb. 1, 2012. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must pass a criminal background check before being accepted into the academy. Only 15 spaces are available. These openings will fill quickly, so act now. All participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
CHAMBER SEEKS BOARD MEMBER

HISTORIC CORRIDOR OPEN HOUSE
DAYTON -- There will be an open house on Dec. 14 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Delany Building. David Dougherty of DLA will be presenting the final concept idea drawings for the historic corridor. The historic corridor is the area from Fifth Street to the bridge along Commercial Avenue. All business owners and residents along the corridor are invited to attend.
