Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

I have been privileged to attend several adaptations of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. Among them have been the version performed on Broadway starring Hal Linden and Roddy McDowell, the Houston Texas Alley Theatre comic adaptation and the Raleigh North Carolina's Theatre In The Park production starring Ira David Wood III.

I would stack our own Touchet Valley Arts Council Productions' adaptation up against any of those, Chapman and Ferrians could take the show on the road.

The Liberty Theater experience started with the superb quality of the printed playbill, which was far more superior than any that I have ever seen. The authentic costuming, professional sets and props offered the theater goer a visual bridge to Tiny Tim's London of 1843. The cast was well-rehearsed and portrayed their characters as well as any professional thespians.

Our little community is truly blessed with talented individuals who have an unselfish desire to put in the long hours and give the personal sacrifices that transform an amateur production into a professional experience. Well Done, Dickens would be proud!

I departed the theater with an eager anticipation of the January 2012 performance of "Nunsense."
