DAYTON -- The Dayton Bulldogs put a hurtin' on Liberty Christian last Saturday night with a 90-43 beating of the Patriots.
The Bulldogs scored 30 first-quarter points to put this game out of reach early on. Hayden Fullerton led the Bulldogs in the first quarter, nailing two three-point buckets and totaled 10 first-quarter points.
Kroft Sunderland was beating them up inside posting strong offensively and rebounding like a Dog.
The Bulldogs made it look like an easy playground game for them until the second quarter when they may have gotten a little too comfortable with their 30-7 first-quarter lead.
Garett Turner got things started for the Bulldogs with an easy bucket and Fullerton added another along with a free throw for a 34-9 lead.
The Patriots answered with a three-point basket from Mike Olson and a field goal from Timmy Koglin.
Sunderland came right back at the Patriots for two more and Turner was hot behind the three-point line and nailed his first trey. The Patriots answered with a three-point bucket of their own, but Turner turned it up another notch nailing his second three-point basket of the night for a 44-20 Bulldog lead.
The Bulldogs ended the quarter outscored by the Patriots, 18-16, while maintaining a 46-25 lead going into the second half.
The Patriots scored five quick points to open up the third quarter, but Turner just wasn't done from behind the three-point line and tossed up one more for a 49-30 Bulldog lead.
It was Turner to Sunderland this time for two more before Bickelhaupt dished a steal off to Fullerton for an easy lay-up.
Fullerton and Sunderland combined for 13 total points before Turner added two more at the end of the third for a 72- 34 Bulldog lead.
It was time for the Bulldog bench to take charge and finish strong for the Dogs. Jacob McCleary, Isaiah Lambert and Cruz Ramirez took their turns to shine, each throwing up baskets.
When the Bulldogs were said and done, they sent the Patriots home licking their wounds with a 90-43 beating.
Fullerton was on fire with 30 points and eight rebounds. Sunderland racked up 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Dogs take on DeSales Fighting Irish Saturday in Walla Walla. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
