Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

To the Editor

"Imitation is the best form of flattery"

This last fall, October 2011, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce introduced the Touchet Valley Region's Food Guide; a beautifully published booklet featuring Dayton, Waitsburg and Starbuck eateries.

As the introduction says in part, "the dining tradition lives on in the tremendous restaurant offeringshellip;since 1978 when the Hiebert's opened the long standing four-Star, Patit Creek Restaurant in Dayton to the more recent Manila Bay and Weinhard Café and the Whoopemup and jimgermanbar in Waitsburg to the riverfront Snake River Grill and the Rawhide Bar & Grill of Starbuck. And fine restaurants we have indeed, along with our historic offerings, and recreational activities.

We were proud when Michael Davidson of Tourism Walla Walla complimented us on the upscale look of our guide.

Therefore, Dayton is pleased and proud to see that Walla Walla Tourism's new campaign is following our lead in promoting their eateries. (Union-Bulletin, front page coverage Feb. 1, "Tourism Marketing Campaign aims for taste buds, tummies."
