Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
On behalf of the students, staff, Dayton School District Board of Directors and families who live in the Dayton School District, I would like to express my appreciation for the support given to the tax measures on last week's ballot. Local funds are essential to the important work being done in your schools every day. Children in Dayton are working hard to prepare themselves for their future.
M&O funds will provide the financial support to keep current programs in place and a chance to bring back programs that have been cut. It is be important for the public to provide feedback to the administration and board while building the budget for the 2012-2013 school year. Capital project funds will be used to continue our efforts to maintain and build a sound technology program for students and staff. Teachers have been integrating technology tools in their classrooms and the levy will ensure that we maintain that effort. The gym bleacher project will be completed during the spring or summer of 2014 following the collection of taxes in 2013. If you have an interest in serving on a committee to help determine the type of bleachers to be purchased and installed, please contact the superintendent's office.
I encourage higher levels of parent and community involvement in our effort to prepare children for the future. We value your thoughts, questions, and encouragement as we design programs and implement policies to enhance the Dayton School District. Members of the local school board meet the first and third Wednesday of most months beginning at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend and provide public comment.
Respectfully
Douglas Johnson
Dayton School District
Superintendent
