DOZIER SEEKS RE-ELECTION WAITSBURG -- Perry Dozier, a Walla Walla County commissioner, announced recently he will run for re-election. Dozier, 53, lives outside of Waitsburg city limits and farms wheat and peas. Dozier is fulfilling his last year of his four-year term and will be on the ballot for re-election in the August primary. Dozier said he wants to hold the position again to maintain continuity on the board.

DONATIONS SOUGHT FOR CAPSULE DAYTON -- Dayton's Boldman House Museum is currently seeking donations of items to be included in a 50-year time capsule. Items should be things from today that will be of interest to members of the community in 50 years. Photographs, pamphlets, billing statements, school assignments, and information from the digital, medical, veterinary, agricultural, religious and entertainment items are a few of the many suggestions for the contents of this time capsule. Items must fit into a cylinder 8 inches wide and 30 inches long. Selections can be dropped off at the Dayton Historic Depot located at 222 E. Commercial Street open Wednesday through Saturday 11a.m. - 4 p.m. Deadline for submissions is March 23. For more information, please contact the Dayton Historic Depot at (509)382-2026.

LINCOLN DAY DINNER DAYTON - A Lincoln Day Dinner will be held by the Columbia County Republican Central Committee at 5 p.m., Saturday, March 10 at the Youth Building at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. A prime rib dinner will be served. The cost is $35 a person. The keynote speaker for the evening will be Wayne Perryman, a minister, talk show host, former newspaper publisher and author. Perryman will talk about misconceptions about the Republican Party. Michael Bumgartner, who is running to replace Sen. Maria Cantwell, will also be present.

BUSINESS SEMINAR WALLA WALLA -- Small to medium Washington business enterprises looking to generate sales to new markets may benefit from a program offered April 2 and 3 by the Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and International Trade Alliance (ITA). The seminar will deliver primary information and resources needed to understand how to export products or services. It will cover: how to find an international market and distribute a product, how to finance and make a profit, how to obtain certifications and learn about regulations, intellectual property issues, SWOT Analysis for export readiness and how to get help through the process. Participants will be introduced to the no cost export services of the SBDC. Pre-registration is required for the seminar, which will be held at the Walla Walla Regional Airport Conference Center. Cost is $59 before March 19 or $75 after and includes lunch. Enrollment is limited. Priority will be given to existing WA small to medium business enterprises primed to sell to a new market. NEW GRIEF SUPPORT ACTIVITIES WALLA WALLA -- A one-day grief support event will be held on Saturday, March 24. The group will meet from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the YMCA. The one-day event will be followed by a series of classes that will begin April 3 and continue April 17, May 1, 15 and 29. The group will meet from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m., and a light meal is included. The sessions will allow a safe atmosphere to process and express their thoughts and feelings through artwork, dance and movement, music and pet therapy. Activities and discussion will be led by the Hospice bereavement team. Both programs are appropriate for children age 6 to 12 who are grieving the death of a loved one. There is no charge, but parents are asked to register by calling the Hospice office at 525-5561 or by email to info@wwhospice.org before March 19. Enrollment is limited.

PETER FRAMPTON TICKETS WALLA WALLA -- Walla Faces will provide opportunities to win tickets to the sold-out Peter Frampton Concert. Seventeen pairs of tickets will be given away at drawings held during the month of March. Each drawing will be held on a local music night at Walla Faces tasting room. At the end of each evening, the performing local band will draw that night's winner. The ticket giveaway program begins this Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Walla Faces monthly Salsa night. The March 24 concert will feature Peter Frampton performing in Cordiner Hall, on the Whitman College campus. The three-hour show features a complete performance of Frampton Comes Alive! Dates of Drawings: March 1 through 4, March 9 through 11, March 16 through 18 and March 23.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH WALLA WALLA -- Area youth are invited to a day of fun-filled, informal educational workshops. Individuals may explore new areas of interest, improve existing skills, and participate in hands-on activities. The program will be held on March 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. in St. Patrick's Community Building. Pizza will be available for purchase during the lunch hour. Most classes are free, but a few require a small fee. Classes offered include: filmmaking, photography, line dancing, 3-D card making, taking care of furry & feathered friends, water color painting - ($3 fee), cats 101 and many more. Register early because class sizes are limited and popular. The registration deadline is March 6. ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION WALLA WALLA -- The fourth annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration will take place again on St. Patrick's Day, Saturday, March 17 at Blanchet Hall in St. Patrick's Catholic School, featuring traditional St. Patrick's Irish Pasties and John Lesko's Famous St. Patrick's Day Chili, Coleslaw, Cupcakes and Green Irish Punch round out the meal. Corn Dogs and Jello are available for kids who want to opt out. Traditional Green Irish Adult Beverages will be available as well. Dinner will be served from 4 until 7:30 p.m.
