WP Takes Down TOR In Double

ROSALIA - The Lady Tigers had a great day Saturday winning a doubleheader over, TOR 12-1, and 9-7.

The recent win puts the Tigers at 7-1 in league and 10-2 overall. Head coach Angie Potts said the first game against TOR was a great display of her team's talent. WP pitcher Jennifer Nichols held TOR to one run and only four hits. Potts said this was Nichols' best day on the mound this season by far.

Heidi Miller had an unassisted double play at first base and a great day overall. The whole team hit the ball well on Saturday, including Chelsey Brannock who kicked off the first inning with a double, Potts said. In the second game, the Tigers allowed a couple of errors that closed the gap on the scoreboard with TOR.

"We let up mentally, which led to an inning of physical errors that gave TOR some momentum," Potts said. The Tigers kept the TOR lead tight before tying the game up. Krystal Harris made her first-ever extra base hit and smacked out a triple that sent in two runs that gave Tigers the lead, 9-7.
