Twenty-Five Years Ago May 7, 1987

Charles E. Hermanns, 28, who was injured in a two-car collision on the Harvey Shaw road April 28, has improved from serious to satisfactory condition at St. Mary Medical Center.

Fifty Years Ago May 4, 1962

Freda Kay Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harris, was crowned Queen of the Waitsburg Days of Real Sports. Her princesses will be Kay Beechinor and Bonnie Sands.

Ted Collins has been elected permanent Class Committeeman, Class of 1962, Harvard Law School.

Newest members tapped into the National Honor Society at Waitsburg High School are Tom Land, Cathy McCown, Jeff Broom, Juanita Augustine, Mike Vennum, Joy Broom, Wes Leid and Freda Kay Harris.

Seventy-Five Years Ago May 7, 1937

The city of Waitsburg has just completed details of the purchase of about 600 acres of land at Guntle Springs from W.F. Hawks.

Mrs. Robert Pollard, Huntsville, gave a dinner Sunday evening in honor of her son, Willard.

W.T. Hamilton, proprietor of Hamilton's Department Store purchased of Harry Gilbert of Walla Walla, the onestory brick next to the Times office on the north. This building has been a bakery for many years. It is said he plans to move his entire electrical department into this building.

One Hundred Years Ago May 5, 1912

Forrest Carpenter is in the Blue Mountains with his pack of dogs looking for "bar."

Calvin Lloyd of Colfax, a brother of A.G. Lloyd of this place, came down to attend the Odd Fellows celebration with the Touchet Lodge, of which he has been a member for 40 years.

The 8-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schmidt fell from a tree on Monday evening landing on his back over a barb wire fence. Four stitches were required in a cut across the back.

One Hundred Twenty-Five Years Ago April 29, 1887

J.D. Laidlaw, our live real estate agent, a few days ago sold the Adair residence property on Coppei Avenue to C.D. Kimmel, lately from Iowa. Consideration, $550.

I. Summers arrived in this city direct from Minnesota last Sunday morning. He is a blacksmith, comes among us to stay and will next week open for business in the Weller shop, corner of Main and Jones Street. Mr. Summers is a pleasant appearing gentleman and we bid him thrice welcome.
