The Will James Society gives a collection to Waitsburg Elementary School Library. The library at Waitsburg Elementary is the recipient of a 17-book collection of the works of noted Western author and artist Will James.

Twenty-Five Years Ago May 21, 1987

The Vandal Booster Club prompts board to propose a total 9-12 sports cooperative. A letter from the Waitsburg School Directors to Prescott Schools proposing joint cooperation between Prescott and Waitsburg for athletic programs in grades 9-12, academics, physical plants and transportation was approved for mailing.

Fifty Years Ago May 25, 1962

Eighteen seniors at Waitsburg High School will receive their diplomas May 28. Susan Lawrence with straight-A grades will be valedictorian and Lynn Mantz will be salutatorian.

Miss Nancee Clodius was installed as worthy advisor of Waitsburg Assembly No. 68 Sunday afternoon.

Seventy-Five Years Ago May 21, 1937

Between each race at the Days of Real Sport here next week, lovers of bucking horses and bucking horse riders will see two riding contests.

The lower Coppei School with Mrs. Art Irwin as teacher, gave an entertainment at the school house Friday evening. There were only four students taking part, Billy Brwon, Clora Jean Eaton, Tom Hamby and Lloyd Harris.

One Hundred Years Ago May 17, 1912

W.H. Dickenson was re-elected City Marshal at an increase in salary to $70 per month.

Two more automobiles were received by Waitsburgers this week. G.M. Lloy now drives a five-passenger Ford and Clarence Smith has received an EMG "30" touring car through the John Smith Hardware Co. of this city

The Tillicum Club of young ladies gave a picnic supper in the Dickinson Grove Wednesday evening to which they invited a number of their gentlemen friends. At a bonfire, coffee was made and bacon and eggs fried. There was ice cream for dessert.

One Hundred Twenty-Five Years Ago May 13, 1887

Messrs. Ed. Mullinix, D.V.Wood, Ben Camp and Misses Mary Dixon, Anna Ingraham, Janet Ingraham, Annie Jessup, Addie Denney, Maud Richmond, Lettie Crawford and Clara Clark of this city were applicants before Walla Walla County School Board of Examiners for teachers' certificates last Wednesday and Thursday. We hope that when the smoke has cleared away it will reveal that all were successful in obtaining a high grade of the coveted parchment.
