Dayton Days Parade Saturday

DAYTON -- Come out and visit rodeo royalty during the 94th annual Dayton Days Parade Saturday morning, May 26, starting along Main Street, which is sponsored by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce this year.

This year the Dayton Days Parade committee decided not to host the event, so the Chamber of Commerce stepped up to sponsor it because it has been part of the annual agenda for so many years, Acting Chamber Director Linze Purcell said.

The big parade will be prefaced with a kiddie parade that kicks off at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot between PDQ Food Mart and American West Bank at 427 E. Main St.

After the kiddie parade, the main event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Patit Road and public works parking lot.

Parade attendees can expect to see the middle school and high school marching band, dancers from The Studio performing a routine, horse-mounted groups, drill teams and cowboys among many other entries along the route, Purcell said in a release from the chamber.

After the parade there will be a royalty luncheon for the visiting rodeo royalty, which will include the 1967 Dayton Days queen, Purcell said.

Also following the parade the Wenaha Gallery will host an art show featuring three different local artists. The show will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the featured artists are Judy Robertus from Dayton, Caprice Scott from College Place and Don Hollenbaugh from Prescott.

The events will close on Monday with the Touchet River Fun Run. The fun run will start at 9:30 a.m. on Memorial Day at the Dayton High School gymnasium.
