Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - The Dayton Booster Club is gearing up for back to school with a banquet and a push to encourage lo- cal residents to become new members.
The club's back-to-school spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 18, in the multi- purpose room. The event will feature themed baskets and an assortment of items for auction, Booster Club Secretary Melanie Mings said.
The themed baskets include a car cleaning kit basket, a cooking-themed basket and a fishing themed basket among others. As far as the items, Mings said the donations for the auction include Ski Bluewood tickets, a getaway pack- age to the Wildhorse Resort and Casino and a massage.
Mings said the money raised from the event will be used to support Dayton School District athletic teams and clubs, helping students pay to attend national competitions and conventions as well as state club and sports competitions.
There will also be door prizes and live entertainment at the event. Mings said tickets are available in advance from most students and coaches, by contacting her at 509-520- 3335 or at the door. Tickets cost $5 per person or $20 for a family.
The club meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month in the Dayton High School library. The Boosters are also hosting a membership drive and will be sending out letters to encourage local support and membership.
