LORANG FAMILY BENEFIT

DAYTON - There will be a Hosanna Lorang Benefit Concert at 7 p.m. on Aug. 19, at the Liberty Theater, 344 E Main St, Dayton. The event will be a full-length concert featuring area musicians to benefit the Lorang family. All donations raised will go to the family to help cover emergency medical and funeral costs for their young daughter, Hosanna, who passed away in June after a fall from a tree. Performances to include The Lentil Bros, Heather Stearns, The Barnstormers, Jake Lorang, Zech Bryan and Missy Davenport. Seating by donation ($10 suggested). CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S LUNCHEON

DAYTON -- The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m., Aug. 15 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds Youth Building. World traveler, Win Edvalds shares with us about her ongoing desire to "measure up" to false standards.

Win felt inadequate trying to measure up until Christ became her plumb line. Hear how this trust helped her through difficult circumstances. Twelve -year-old Chloe Pearson, who will be playing Annie in the Lib- erty Theater's fall musical will sing selections from the coming production. POETRY CONTEST

WAITSBURG - A $1,000 grand prize is being of- fered to the last poet standing in a free contest by the Celestial Arts Society. There are 50 prizes totaling $5,000. Poems of 21 lines or fewer on any subject and in any style will be judged by the Contest Director Dr. James Cameron. Entries must be received by Aug. 20. CAR SHOW & SWIM

PRESCOTT -- Prescott's Dive and Park Show this Weekend! Like to Swim? Like to look at cars? Like to show off your car? On Saturday, Aug. 11, from 2-6 p.m. come to Prescott for an exciting time to see all the cars parked around the pool. Take a swim, then, look at cars again. If you have a car you'd like to show off, pile the kids in it and come to swim in Prescott and show your car at a real small town car show. A daily swim pass costs $4 for adults, $3 for youth and seniors. Children five years and under are free. Hot dogs and refreshments are available or bring your picnic to enjoy at the park. Questions? BMAC MOVES

WALLA WALLA - The Blue Mountain Action Council (BMAC) is open at its new main office loca- tion, 1520 Kelly Place, Suite 140, in Walla Walla. The community action partnership has joined Helpline, Blue Mountain Heart to Heart, Rising Sun Clubhouse, and Walla Walla County Department of Human Ser- vices in the county-owned community services build- ing. BMAC's contact information remains the same, including the phone number, 509-529-4980. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, closing at 4 p.m. Friday.

There is plenty of parking for clients and a Valley Transit bus stop outside the center, which is just off Dalles Military Road. Blue Mountain Action Coun- cil (BMAC) works with low-income people in Walla Walla, Columbia and Garfield counties so they are able to meet essential needs through a coordinated, community effort.

FREE WHOOPING COUGH VACCINE

WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla County Health Department has free whooping cough vaccine for uninsured individuals 19 years of age and older and adequate vaccine for children through 18 years of age. Cost is not a barrier to immunization of children as fees can be waived for those without insurance or who can- not afford vaccine.
