PRESCOTT - With more students enrolled in the Prescott School District, the school board agreed last week it needed to hire a new business manager's assistant to help keep all of the paper- work in order.
At the school board meeting on Tuesday, July 31, Superintendent Dr. Bill Jor- dan said with the addition of students from Jubilee Youth Ranch and Vista Hermosa in the school district, the office staff has been handling an influx of about 145 students. For the staff members, this means more student transcripts to track, more grading to record, more performance evaluations and more money to handle.
"It's time for us to hire another person," Jordan said.
The current business man- ager is AJ Jacobson, who Jordan said has been work- ing many night and weekend hours to get the job done.
Jordan said the district doesn't have any potential candidates in mind, and will start recruiting for an assis- tant business manager soon.
The school board unanimously approved the new position.
"All I can say is it's about time," said Chairwoman Karen Tonne.
The district is expect- ing 343 students to attend Prescott schools in the coming school year, with about 60 Jubilee students, up from 40 last year. With the extra income from the state for the boosted enrollment, Jordan said the district can afford the new full-time position.
"We're looking good in relation to the budget," he said.
