Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
The Touchet valley Women's Golf Association has concluded two busy months. Rain and in- clement weather kept most of the ladies off the course in April and May. Cool weather continued into June. The group sponsored a very successful Junior Golf program in late June. Evelyn Himmelberger and Patty Eng co- chaired this event. Over 50 youth from the area enjoyed a week of free lessons under the guidance of Max Reinland, Walla Walla Memorial Golf Corse pro. The last day was highlighted by hot dogs, chips and ice cream served up by the golf club ladies and assisted by members of the Country Club.
Several members have trav- eled to La Grande, Buckskin and Horn Rapids in Richland to play in invitationals. Meredith Dedman and Marie Sullivan had chip-ins in La Grande and Sue Little and Sandy MaCaw received credit for low gross and low net at the Walla Walla Country Club. Kris Takemura and Sue Little took honors at the Buckskin Club Invitational. Evelyn took the low gross at La Grande. Four members, led by Delores Robanske, attended the invitational at the Walla Walla Country Club in early August.
Plays of the day winners have included Mary Ellen Juris and Marie Sullivan, least putts and JoAnn Poolman, Cherie Hinch- cliffe and Bev Gaines have been winners of the scramble games.
The Club is preparing for their invitational August 22. Last year over 50 women from nine clubs attended. The group plays every Wednesday morning at the Touchet Valley Golf Course. There are many degrees of talent in this group. New members are always welcomed to a morning of golf and companionship.
