Helen Maxine Smith

Helen Maxine Smith, 74, passed away peacefully August 3, 2012, at Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Wal- la, Washington.

Mrs. Smith was born June 14, 1938, in Hood River, Oregon, to Chester and Win- nie Slaughter. She attended school in Oklahoma. She was the youngest of nine children.

In 1955 she married Louis Smith in Reno, Nevada. They traveled the Northwest work- ing construction. Helen was a mother and homemaker all her life. They moved to Waitsburg in 1989, after Louie retired from construction, to make it their home.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Richard Largent of Waitsburg and Terry and Joseph Taller of Kent, Wash., and a son, Jerry Smith of Walla Walla. She has six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death her husband of 52 years, Louis Smith, and two broth- ers and three sisters. At her request there will be no funeral service.
